Topics for "Theory into Practice"


Some suggested topics are as follows:

1. Rational People Think at the Margin
         * Think of a problematic situation in which a person weighs or evaluates the costs & benefits of options available. After which, show the incremental adjustment. Which option is chosen based on the cost-benefit analysis.

2. Determinants of Demand
       * Go to specific market where various buyers are present. Make a casual interview with the buyers about what factor/s that determine/s their demand of a certain good. Show the data and make a conclusion about the findings.

3. Steps to analyzing changes in equilibrium
       *Market for flowers, Valentines Day/All soul/saints day/, what happens to this scenario?
                or
       *Market for fruits, New Year,
                or
        *Market for Roasted Chicken, Christmas
       *Suggested style - news reporting. Don't forget to show on the video the graphical illustration of such
          event.

4. Shortage/Surplus
       *Show an actual footage of the phenomenon. Explain how to solve it.

5. Competitive market
        *A market that performs competition (homogeneous products, many sellers buyers, easy entry/easy
            exit, etc.)

6. Cost of production
        *Why is it important? Show a store or company that operated sometime in the past, but is now close
             because of some reasons. Point out the possible reasons by relating them to cost of production.

7. Externality, Market power, and among others.

Burn the output onto cd/dvd disc
No time limit for as long as it shows the gist of the topic.
All members do not necessarily appear on the video provided each one of them should have a
      contribution to the output.
Submission is on March 1, Tuesday.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING


Clarity (15%)
    Was the presentation easy to understand? Were difficult concepts explained clearly?
    Was sufficient information provided?
Aesthetics & Technical Presentation (25%)
      What is the quality of appearance, order, organization, images, etc?
       Technical aspect to be judged may include: directing, editing, sound design/music, acting/performance
Content & Scientific Merit (35%)
      Does the work make a reasonable contribution and/or extend our knowledge?
      This involves the main concept and the message of the video presentation.
      Is the footage taken in real life situations.
Originality (15%)
      Significant evidence of originality and inventiveness, Evidence of research and/or effort.
      Minimize secondary footage please.
Punctuality (10%)
       Wast the output submitted on time?
