Topics for Final Project

A video Presentation 

dubbed as
“Theory into Practice”
Summer Edition 2011


FINAL PROJECT

Feasible topics to consider are as follows:

            *Concepts of Shutting Down, Exiting & Entering
                        >Go to a store/firm that already closes its operation.
                        >Talk about the possible reasons of closure.

            *Behavior of the Firm (small-scale business or large-scale business)
                        >Vendors
                        >Why do they decide to supply such product/service?
                        >Why manage the business here and not anywhere else?
                        >How much revenue they make per day or month? What about profit?
                        >Do they have business strategy that induces customers to buy their
                                 products/services?
                        >What are some problems they encounter with their business? How do they
                                address the problem? [competition, gasoline, economic recession, etc.]
                        >Make conclusions.

            *Market Structures
                        >Monopolistic Competition
                        >Oligopoly
                        >Monopoly
                                    *Find a firm that exhibits such characteristic.
                                    *Discuss its characteristics.

            *Consumer Behavior
                        >Budget Constraint
                                    *Refer to the first paragraph of the book (Chapter 21)
                        >Determinants of Demand
                                    *Go to a specific market where various buyers are present.
                                    *Make an ambush interview with them about what factors that determine
                                               their demand for a certain good.
                                    *Show the data and make a conclusion about the findings.

 *Effects of Tax on buyers & sellers
                        >Conduct a casual interview with them.
                                    *What is tax for them?
                                    *How are they affected in terms of their consumption?
                                    *What do they suggest about the imposition of tax on goods/services?
                                    *Who should bear higher burden of tax? Buyer? Seller? Both? Or
                                              neither? & Why?

            *Infrastructure Project of the Government
                        >Locate the project site.
                        >Show that through this government expenditure, jobs are created.
                        >Show that it acquires materials from a certain firm.

            *Local, National or International Investment
                        >same with Government Project
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING


Clarity (15%)
    Was the presentation easy to understand? Were difficult concepts explained clearly?
    Was sufficient information provided?

Aesthetics & Technical Presentation (25%)
      What is the quality of appearance, order, organization, images, etc?
       Technical aspect to be judged may include: directing, editing, sound design/music,
              acting/performance

Content & Scientific Merit (35%)
      Does the work make a reasonable contribution and/or extend our knowledge?
      This involves the main concept and the message of the video presentation.
      Is the footage taken in real life situations.

Originality (15%)
      Significant evidence of originality and inventiveness, Evidence of research and/or
          effort.
      Minimize secondary footage please.

Punctuality (10%)
       Was the output submitted on time?


The running time of the video presentation should not be less than 3 minutes, but not more than 15 minutes.

The output should be burned onto a CD/DVD disc, and make sure the video format is readable on a typical player.

Deadline of submission will be on 23rd of May, Monday, from 1:00-2:30 PM only. Late submission will NOT be honored anymore.

    good evening po, sir. this is mikaela barroga po from your 2:35 class. ask lang po ako sir kung nasa school po kayo tomorrow morning? i paged you po kasi kanina sa faculty lounge and waited for you there pati po dun sa parang library exclusive for teachers (yung may mga computers nga po. i don't know what you call that room po kasi e. hehe), but you weren't there. sorry po to bother you, sir. we just really need your signature for the letter we made para po payagan kami ng mga groceries sa malls to conduct videoed interviews.
